8 ways that hope will lead us to be thankful | www.hispurposeinme.comIn the most difficult moments of my life I have learned and God has allowed me to strengthen my faith and hope in Him. It is not easy when in the midst of your pain or difficult situation you have to put aside your emotions and look through the eyes of faith. It is in those moments when we must start giving thanks to God for His marvelous works in our lives. And yet, when we see that He uses all things to work on our behalf. Today I want to share with you, 8 ways that will lead us to give thanks to God at all times.

8 ways that hope will lead you to be thankful

1 – Remember that every day comes with a new hope:

Be always thankful about the new day that God let’s you live and enjoy.  The hope of a new day will make our hearts more thankful about the blessings of God and His presence in difficult circumstances.

Do you remember the people of God in the middle of the dessert for 40 years? There was plenty of waiting there, but there was a hope of a promise land ahead.  They hoped in the promise of God and finally they landed in the promise land.  If you are in a moment of waiting, be thankful and praise God because you will get to the your promise land soon!

6 – Hoping and trusting in the hard places

I remember the story of Joseph, the one who was betrayed by his brothers.  The one who was in jail, the slave! But also, the one that had a dream from God and saw His promise fulfilled in his life and family. Joseph was rejected, but he had hope in the waiting and God prospered him because “God was with him”.

7 – Use your helmet to overcome

Using the helmet of hope will help us overcome the enemy.  Yes! God has given us a full armor to put daily, including praising and worshiping Him too.  Be thankful for what God has provided for you during your most difficult seasons of your life.

My Journey with God – Guest Post

My Journey with God | Mother Theresa once said: "If you want to change the world, go home and love your family." This was a very difficult message for me, as I constantly wanted to change the world, but I am honest- as an over-ambitious career woman, I did feel my husband and kids were "stealing" most of my time, preventing me from living a life with purpose | www.hispurposeinme.com

Mother Theresa once said: “If you want to change the world, go home and love your family.”

This was a very difficult message for me, as I constantly wanted to change the world, but I am honest- as an over-ambitious career woman, I did feel my husband and kids were “stealing” most of my time, preventing me from living a life with purpose.

Even though, I gave most of my time to my career, and assisting others  in my free time… and I was the only one stealing time from my family.

My journey with God

Then, God gave me a very clear message. I should give up my part-time photography business and step aside. Great things were about to happen and my husband would need my support. I needed to allow him to be head of the family again.

Our family had gone through quite a challenging season. After multiple career moves and unemployment for my husband, which we at that time, thought was necessary (maybe with too little consulting God or maybe just part of His bigger plan). My husband really needed a new opportunity. Emotionally and Financially.

We truly believed that the right opportunity would present. And when it did, it would come from God.

After numerous failed attempts at job hunting in his industry … the opportunity came in a neighbouring country.

While I completely supported my husband, I was suddenly a working mom, alone with two kids.

During this time a once-in-a-lifetime career opportunity came up on the cards for me. I was devastated.

My husband was already living in Namibia (a desert country) and missing us a lot. Then, God repeatedly presented me with different bible verses indicating that a marriage should not be seperated, and that He would provide and guide us even through the desert. He would give us a new country, but we should remain faithful to his commandments.

Someone once said, do nothing without prayer, and you will not regret anything. I was so confused. But, I knew, I had to sacrifice, I had to be obedient.

“Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid neither Be thou dismayed; for the Lord thy God shall lead thee withersoever thou goest” – Joshua 1:9

You see… this was not the end of a tough journey for us – but opening myself up to prayer and responsibility in trusting God – I have bee strengthened to handle these challenges; like never before.

I am now blessed to be a stay-at-home mom and I am the writer of a blog in both English and Afrikaans (native)… in which I can remind myself and other moms… Every Second Counts!

Today I want to leave you with the following to think about.

Prayer teaches us not to act without careful consideration. It opens you up to what God is busy with, within you.

How has been your journey with God?

How to experience hope during difficult times

How to experience hope during difficult times | www.hispurposeinme.com

Let me be clear with you from the beginning, there is no formula to avoid difficult times.  However, we can experience hope during those difficult times.  When those moments come to our lives, we not only can experience hope (trusting in God), but we can face any suffering with confidence.

Experiencing the hope is to recognize in whom we trust and why. Amid the storms we can lift our heads high and proclaim that we believe and trust in a God who is all-powerful.  Nothing escapes from the sight of God.

Also, in tough times our faith is tested and our character is formed. This leads us to rely on God’s work in our lives.  Romans 5:3 says:

And not only this, but [with joy] let us exult in our sufferings and rejoice in our hardships, knowing that hardship (distress, pressure, trouble) produces patient endurance;  and endurance, proven character (spiritual maturity); and proven character, hope and confident assurance [of eternal salvation].

Such hope [in God’s promises] never disappoints us, because God’s love has been abundantly poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

There is hope for those who need it.  We can see and learn from the word of God, that He is always available to listen to our prayers.  If  you read Psalm, 22:24 you will see that… “But when he cried to Him for help, He listened.”

Post to read: Bible Verses that will give you hope.

Hope will enable you and me to face any circumstance in our lives, If we recognize in whom we have trust.  He will answer and strength you to continue in your journey.  With God, you can experience hope during difficult times.

Have you experienced God’s hope in any situation in your life? Share it with  us!
